How to Burn Fat on Stomach - Is It Possible?
There are many recommended solutions on how to burn fat on stomach. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that most of them are complete lies! This article will show you why.
If you think that doing ab crunches, sit ups, and all those other ab exercises will help you burn fat on stomach think again!
I remember when I was younger and I saw an ad on television for an ab cruncher device thing that you would do three clicks a few times a day and it would shed fat off of your stomach. Well, I bought this and did it every day. Unfortunately, I did not lose weight and kept that belly of mine!
"Spot" Reducing is a myth!
Many people believe that if you do a certain amount of exercises on a certain body part you can get rid of fat in that spot. This is completely false. The marketers would love for you to believe that and buy their "ab" miracle device. Nevertheless, they don't work at getting rid of fat at all!
Let's look at sit ups. They're great exercises and I do them almost every day to keep my stomach toned. However, I don't do them to burn calories or lose fat. I do them to maintain the muscles in that area. Sit-ups, leg lifts, etc, these are all anaerobic exercises. They are not aerobic, which are the fat burning type.
To lose weight doing sit-ups, you would need to do thousands and thousands of them. And frankly, your stomach muscles aren't built for that.
Isolated exercises for your stomach, legs, etc such as sit-ups and crunches are good for building muscle and even gaining muscle, but not losing weight. Of course, a whole workout routine targeting large muscle groups could help you lose weight, but we won't go into that right now.
What does make you lose weight?
Following a diet plan and exercising with the right blend of exercises. Sure, sit-ups could be in that but they aren't the sole key ingredient. If anything, they're like icing on the cake!
To get a nice visible six-pack ab set, or even a flat stomach, you need to reduce your body fat percentage. Abs won't show up till you have around 10 percent body fat. The "belly", or a stomach with fat covering ones abs, is basically excess body fat stored there. You can't specifically target the body fat in any one area. Your body will naturally chose which areas to take the fat from when dieting. Some people notice their thighs getting skinnier before their stomach. It all depends on what your genetics is wired to do. The best method of attacking that layer of fat is to go on a complete fat loss program.
