Workout Tips for Skinny Guys

If you are like me, you've probably always been this skinny person in the group and are sick of people telling you how lucky you are to not put on weight.

Unfortunately what they don't realise is that it is much harder for us to put on weight than it is for them to lose weight.

Despite this fact the answer to the problem of whether you want to lose weight or gain weight is the same. You have to change your diet, and do more exercise.

There is no quick solution to gaining lean muscle unfortunately, but if you eat right and workout correctly you can notice improvements within weeks rather than months or years.

Notice how I mentioned eat right first? This is because even if you work out correctly, your physical changes will be minimal if you don't eat right.

All the top trainers agree that to reach your body weight goals, 70% is down to your diet and only 30% is down to your workouts. This is true whether you want to gain weight or lose weight.

If you wonder why Hollywood stars always seem to have great bodies, it's because they hire personal trainers and nutritionists. They have to be very strict with what they eat, and make sure they do the correct workouts for their needs.

For the "hardgainer" (skinny person), the best way to put on lean muscle is to eat a high calorie but low carb diet, and do more resistance training (training with weights).

When doing weight training, there are a lot of different techniques that people use, but remember that you have to tailor your workout to your body-type.

I suggest that you do shorter workouts but with higher intensity. This doesn't mean that you should necessarily lift heavier weights, but it means that you should have less rest between each set.

How many times have you been to a gym and seem massive guys spending hours working out, but with long breaks in between exercises?

This is OK for them, but they have probably always found it easy to put on muscle. Besides that, they probably aren't particularly tones, and are going for size over definition.

I don't see the point in making yourself big if you are putting on loads of fat at the same time. The way I have suggested to workout (with little or no rests between each exercise) will keep your body at a higher metabolism rate, and therefor will keep all the gain you get as lean muscle.
